The examination is the most important part of any practice and has improved over the years due to the introduction of modern equipment. Up until recently, the gold standard for examining the eye health was using a fundus camera. This is now regarded as old fashioned and has been replaced in modern hospital eye departments by the laser scanning microscope.

Eye testing (or refraction) is performed thoroughly without rushing patients. This is particularly important if patients are elderly or have complex prescriptions. The DVLA recognise our specialist skills and refer to us all local patients that require further tests to check if their vision is suitable for driving.
